FAQWhat are the benefits of wooden shutters rather than curtains?Besides being modern and stylish, interior shutters offer flexible light, ventilation and privacy, as well as protecting furnishing from UV damage from the sun's rays. They are also long-lasting and durable and provide excellent value for money as, used properly, they will long outlast any pair of curtains or blinds. In addition, interior wooden shutters make a room feel larger, more airy and less cluttered. They are cool in summer and insulate to keep you warm in winter.
Which Louvre size should I choose? This depends on the size of your window. The smaller the window size, ideally the smaller the louvre size to keep it in proportion. Speak to our designer to ensure you make just the right choice! What is Your Policy on Sourcing the Wood?We have gone to a lot of trouble to source our wood from sustainable forests. Doing our bit to help the planet is important to us (and our children!), and to that end we fuel our vehicles with LPG gas, use water-based paints and ensure a high level of natural light in our factory to reduce energy costs. Our commitment to the environment doesn't just start and end with the wood! Are Plantation Shutters Easy to Maintain? It couldn't be easier. Use a feather duster, damp cloth or vacuum cleaner from time to time. They shouldn't need repainting for many years, so sit back and enjoy! What Are the Delivery Lead Times for your Shutters? Our standard quoted delivery time is 28 days from final survey. However, during our busy periods we may quote a longer lead time to ensure there is no compromise on the quality. Is Shutter Self-Measuring and Fitting an Option? We don't believe it is. Ensuring the correct fit is absolutely vital to the look of your finished shutters, so inaccurate measuring can mean disaster. A few millimeters out is all it takes to have a poorly fitted shutter. We have experienced teams carefully trained to ensure your shutters fit beautifully! What if my Window Aperture is not Square? This is where our specialist team really earns its money! Once we've had a chance to look at accurate measurements we can work out the best way of overcoming any problems posed by out-of-true windows. Don't worry, there is always an answer, we just need to work out the best approach to ensure your shutters look exactly right. What Types of Windows Are Suitable for Wood Shutters? Most windows are suitable - they give a superb finish to French windows and patio doors, are a great way of providing privacy in a bathroom, safer and more hygienic in kitchens than curtains, a stylish finish to bedrooms and look great in living areas. Speak to our designer who can help with your selection. What Happens in the Unlikely Event of a problem occurring with my shutters?Let's be realistic, with the best will in the world accidents do happen - shutters can get damaged in transit, dropped when fitting or even scratched by an over-enthusiastic dog! Who knows what can happen? Where we are different to the rest is that we can respond quickly to any unforeseen issues that may arise, because we produce our own shutters - we don't have to wait in line with an overseas manufacturer to get things sorted. What do you mean by a 'lifetime guarantee' on component shutter parts? We have manufactured our shutters to 'last a lifetime' for normal every day usage and they are therefore of robust construction. (In fact, a man could stand on them and not break them - but we'd rather you didn't try this!) We keep the measurements and details of your order in our database - this means that we can quickly machine replacement parts if necessary. Replacement hinges, latches and locks can also be ordered and replaced quite easily. Whilst we replace broken and faulty part damaged through normal usage for free, this quite reasonably doesn't extend to wilful damage. In these circumstances, we will quite happily carry out repairs at an agreed cost.
